Aims and Scope
Dialectology is a branch of linguistics that focuses on the study, documentation, and scientific description of dialects. Iran, with its wide ethnic and cultural diversity, is home to numerous languages and dialects, each representing an integral part of the country’s linguistic heritage. In addition, the Persian language itself is spoken in various regions of Iran with distinct accents and regional varieties.
This journal aims to introduce, document, and scientifically analyse Iranian dialects by publishing the results of data-driven research and scholarly studies conducted in this field.
This journal, with an emphasis on linguistic analysis of Iranian languages and dialects and the examination of current issues related to them, seeks to become a rich and authoritative source for dialectological research by pursuing the following objectives:
- To document and publish linguistic research conducted on Iranian languages and dialects, including Kurdish, Balochi, Mazani, Pashto, Lori, Persian, and other varieties;
- To guide linguistic research in Iran toward structural analyses of the languages and dialects spoken within the geographical boundaries of Iran;
- To evaluate and test modern linguistic theories based on data from Iranian languages and dialects;
- To conduct typological studies aimed at determining the position of Persian and other Iranian languages within various typological parameters;
- To encourage and support interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research in the field of Iranian languages and dialects;
- To create an academic, impartial environment free from individualistic or ideological tendencies for the publication of original research within formalist, functionalist, and cognitive frameworks;
- To provide a foundation for scholarly critique of linguistic theories based on corpus-based data from Persian and other Iranian languages and dialects;
- To establish an academic platform for sharing the latest research findings in dialectology and the study of Iranian dialects;
