Publication Ethics

This journal, while respecting ethical standards in scholarly publishing, adheres to the regulations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows the Executive By-law of the Law on Prevention Fraud in Scientific Works.

This code of ethics has been approved by the Editorial Board of the Scientific–Research Journal of Linguistics and Iranian Languages, based on the “National Code of Ethics for Scientific Journals of Iran.” In drafting this code, the guidelines and recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) have been utilized.

Code of Ethics for the Publisher (Editor-in-Chief / Managing Director)

• Observing professional norms in defining the general objectives of the journal
• Commitment to the journal’s aims and subject scope
• Attention to open access to information
• Transparency in informing stakeholders about journal affairs, especially the peer-review process
• Accountability, responsibility, and integrity
• Commitment to impartiality and fairness
• Non-interference in the scientific peer-review process and in the academic decisions of the Editorial Board and Editor-in-Chief
• Respect for the material and intellectual rights of authors, the editor, editorial board members, reviewers, and executive and administrative staff

Code of Ethics for the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members

• Commitment to the journal’s core objectives and efforts to achieve them
• Paying attention to reviewers’ academic expertise, discipline, academic rank, professional and scientific experience, competence, and ethical commitment
• Avoiding any form of unethical discrimination or bias (based on age, gender, nationality, religion, etc.) in relation to reviewers
• Consulting with editorial board members and other qualified and trustworthy individuals in selecting reviewers
• Registering and archiving peer-review documents as scientific records
• Ensuring accuracy in evaluations and care in transmitting and assessing reviewers’ comments
• Welcoming thorough and well-reasoned reviews and addressing biased, unfounded, or insulting evaluations
• Taking seriously reviewers’ reports concerning misconduct, fraud, plagiarism, and other ethical violations
• Providing authors accused of ethical misconduct with the opportunity to respond
• Paying attention to review timelines and following up to ensure timely peer review
• Observing confidentiality and protecting the privacy of authors, reviewers, and manuscript content
• Supervising and preventing superficial or weak reviews
• Protecting the material and intellectual rights of authors and reviewers
• Preventing conflicts of interest in the review process and paying attention to any personal, commercial, academic, and especially financial relationships that may affect the publication of submitted manuscripts
• Transparently publishing reports on the journal’s scholarly performance, including the peer-review process and reviewer selection
• Active and responsible participation of editorial board members in decision-making meetings

Code of Ethics for Reviewers

• Providing critical, constructive, and honest evaluations of manuscripts
• Analysing strengths and weaknesses of manuscripts and offering suggestions for improvement
• Using an appropriate tone and style that encourages authors to implement suggested revisions
• Not sharing manuscripts with others or discussing manuscript details during the review process
• Refraining from participating in plagiarism
• Not using data or novel ideas from manuscripts prior to publication for personal research advancement
• Avoiding any conflicts of interest
• Declining to review manuscripts outside the reviewer’s field of expertise
• Seriously addressing manuscripts suspected of misconduct, plagiarism, or ethical violations
• Reviewing manuscripts in a constructive and educational manner and avoiding sarcastic, degrading, or destructive evaluations
• Applying scientific methods in manuscript evaluation
• Conducting adequate review of published literature in the relevant field
• Carefully examining references, figures, and other supplementary materials
• Assisting authors in clearly and effectively conveying their message to readers
• Maintaining confidentiality and protecting personal and content-related information
• Observing fairness and avoiding discrimination (race, religion, nationality, academic rank, age, gender)
• Providing clear recommendations to the editor regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision of manuscripts
• Completing reviews within the stipulated time and assisting authors in improving manuscript quality

Code of Ethics for Authors

• Possessing the necessary and sufficient scientific qualifications to conduct research and prepare manuscripts
• Selecting useful and applicable research topics and addressing essential societal issues
• Commitment to truth-seeking and courage (discovering truth and presenting facts without fear or concern)
• Serious participation in research and effective teamwork
• Disclosing any financial or non-financial support received from individuals or organizations during the research process and reporting them accurately
• Declaring the source of the manuscript, including theses, dissertations, or research projects
• Respecting the material and intellectual rights of all stakeholders, including collaborators, scientific advisors, financial sponsors, and human participants, and clearly stating these in the manuscript
• Careful reflection and diligence in manuscript preparation and presentation of findings, avoiding haste
• Using adequate reasoning and evidence to support conclusions
• Refraining from simultaneous submission of manuscripts to multiple journals, even in different languages
• Refraining from publishing the same article in multiple journals
• Demonstrating openness to criticism and tolerance of opposing views
• Observing fairness and justice throughout all stages of research and manuscript preparation
• Utilizing relevant previous research
• Observing integrity and trustworthiness in manuscript writing
• Adhering to ethical principles in research involving human participants
• Honesty and truthfulness, and avoidance of data or result manipulation
• Observing principles of confidentiality and transparency in reporting findings and results
• Avoiding the promotion of biases or prejudices (ethnic, religious, gender-based, etc.) in manuscript writing
• Avoiding arrogance and undue pride, and refraining from belittling similar prior work
